For our final full day in Switzerland, we headed to Luzern and Mount Pilatus. On the way to the top of Mount Pilatus, we stopped to take a “summer toboggan” ride down the mountain. Unfortunately, when we got to the top of the mountain it was cloudy, so we didn’t get very many good views of the city of Luzern, but we did enjoy a picnic lunch. For the ride down, we took a cogwheel train with a very steep grade 48%. After returning to Luzern, we took a tour of the city. On our tour we got to see the famous bridge that crosses the river through town and the lion monument.

This is a picture of the Lion Monument in Luzern. It represents the Swiss mercenaries who were killed defending the French King in the French Revolution. From the picture it doesn't look that big, but it is 33 feet long by 20 feet tall, quite impressive.
This is the Chapel Bridge in Luzern. The picture doesn't do it much justice, it has really pretty flowers along the edge and 13th century painting on the inside. (One of our favorite sights)
