Day 10- Salzburg, Austria

Day 10- July 2
Originally on this day we planned to see Mad King Ludwig’s castles but because they are hard to get to with public transportation, we decided to scratch that plan and head to Salzburg instead. In Salzburg we visited several neat churches and looked around the old downtown. We also took the venicular to the fortress on the top of the hill overlooking Salzburg. After visiting the fortress we headed to Mirabell Gardens, where a portion of the “Sound of Music” was filmed. Our trip to Salzburg left us wanting to watch the “Sound of Music”(that’s on our to do list when we return home).Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart, while we didn't tour his actual birthplace, we did stop for a picture of this statue.
This is a view of Salzburg from Hohensalzburg Fortress

This is a picture of the Mirabell gardens in Salzburg. "Sound of Music" fans should recognize this. This is the site of the scene where the kids all danced before lining up on the stairs. (After I watch the movie maybe it will mean more to me)

Wow, I am so jealous of the beautiful views you have been able to see on your trip. Take care and keep those posts coming. Jody, I was able to see your favorite niece, Natalie, on Friday. Take care!
