After three days in Germany we said goodbye for now and headed to Switzerland. Most of the morning was spent traveling from Mainz, Germany to Bern Switzerland. Bern is the capital of Switzerland, so we were able to see the national capitol. The capitol was under construction, but it did not seem to have as much security as the United States Capitol, which I guess is understandable given Switzerland’s neutrality. Bern, which sits on the Aare River, was Tim’s favorite city.
This is one of the 11 fountains that Bern is famous for.
This is a picture of the Aare River in Bern, the color of the river is a beautiful crystal blue color, and we definitely don’t have rivers that look like this in Kansas.
Einstein was living in an apartment in Bern when he discovered the Relativity Theory. The Einstein House was closed when we walked by, but we stopped for a picture anyway hoping that someday we too might be considered a genius.

I consider you a genius, after all, we share similar genetics. I am so glad you are having lots of different cultural experiences. You will probably notice the world cup a little more in the future. Keep those posts coming!

You've had great pictures and I really like your commentary for those of us who are not with you. My grandfather recovered from influenza after WWI in Trier, Germany and he said it was beautiful even then.
