The Outtakes

Every once in a while, I try to be on the ball and get things done ahead of time.  A couple of weeks ago I thought I'd do a little Valentine's Day shoot and try to get Leah's valentine's done early, did I end up finishing her valentine's early? Nope.  Are her valentine's done yet? Nope. Here are a few outtakes from our photo shoot.  After looking at them some more, I probably could have made them work, but I went with our outside owl pictures instead.
Taking pictures of a 15-month-old is tricky when you're by yourself.  I felt the need to give her something to hang onto, but that didn't quite work either.

She wasn't having the picture taking, so we just ended up playing in the cozy coupe instead, whatever works!

She's Learning

Leah's growing and changing so much these days, it seems like she learning something new everyday.  I thought I'd take a moment to record a few of her newest things.
We're working on the shape sorter, it's still a little rough, but she gets the idea and I can point to where it does and she'll try to put it in and with a little maneuvering, she can usually get it.

She loves to "brush" her teeth, she usually just chews on the toothbrush.  She not big on letting me brush her teeth, so I'll take the chewing on the toothbrush. I just tell myself, at least we're establishing good habits, hopefully she'll get the brushing down sometime.

We're working on using a fork and spoon.  Yes, I realize peas aren't the easiest to have a toddler practice using a spoon on, but it was what was on the menu.  She does pretty good if I load the spoon for her, I'm still not brave enough to give her the entire bowl of oatmeal (or whatever she's eating).

I think she has this one covered, it's called making a mess.  Some days my kitchen floor ends up looking like this during dinnertime.  I usually forgo the mess and focus on dinner, whatever keeps her occupied for a few minutes.

No she's not learning to use a rolling pin, but she sure thinks it's fun to play with.
She's also learning she likes to dig through my purse and I'm learning to put it in a Leah safe place.

She's mastered the slide as well, she can climb right up it and slide down.  Now, if we could just get her to sit and not stand on it.
I can't wait to see what's next on the learning list!

Life Lately

I hate how streaky I am with blogging, it seems like I do really well for a little while and then I completely fail.  Sorry for the lack of blogging, hopefully I'll get better!
 Here's what's been happening lately:
My latest pinterest project, a stuffed owl.  I cut this out a few weeks ago and it still looks like this, hopefully one of these days I'll sew it together.

Home Improvement: We've been doing a little home improvement and decided to paint the kitchen and basement.  These were our color choices for the kitchen and basement, this isn't even all the choices and doesn't include the floor samples, needless to say, we're terrible at making decisions, but both paint projects are complete!

Grandma Debbie came for the weekend.  My mom came for the weekend and it was a whirlwind weekend.  Between us finishing the painting projects, finding new window treatments, and our Superbowl party, the weekend went so fast.
Leah got a new slide while Grandma Debbie was in town and she loves it!

We hosted a small Superbowl party, with more food than guests, but had a good time.

It seems Leah has become more attached to Pursley.  Somehow he makes it out of the crib more often and she doesn't give him up quite as easily as she used to.

Every Sunday afternoon you can find me at our local Joann's for my cake decorating class. I can cross #6 off my 'to do' list.  I was a little miffed by the instructor when she told us I'd be able to make the cake on the cover of the book, so we'll see how good my skills are when I'm done.  This was my cake from week 2.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I had the best of intentions about making and mailing Leah's Valentine's, but for some reason they just didn't happen.  So, here is your on-time Valentine and a few more might be arriving in the mail, a little late.  Just know the love is still the same! :)
