Friday Phone Dump

Here are some pictures from the week.
The theme for this week: Sunglasses
A comparison, 5 months old and 17 months old.
My little helper, Leah decided to organize her spoons while I did some baking.

Someone please remind me what season it is.  I have a hard time dressing my kid in shorts and a t-shirt in March, but when it's 80 degrees, I feel like I have no choice.

Sunglasses are a necessity on our afternoon run/ walks.  She puts them on all by herself, both upside down and right-side up.

Practicing

Leah is going on her first Easter Egg hunt tomorrow and in anticipation for the event, we have been practicing hiding and finding eggs in the backyard.  I feel like I've been lacking in activities in the "Keep Leah Busy" category, so this seemed like a good idea.  Looks like I'll be checking out my Pinterest board for some more activities, or else Egg hunting may become a year-round event.
This was one of those days where Leah thought she didn't need a nap.  I figured after playing outside and hunting eggs she'd feel a little differently, and she did.
Leah, tell me how you really feel about naps.

The basket is a little big for her, but it was all I could find at the moment and she doesn't seem to mind it.  Occasionally she'll put it on her arm like it's a purse and say "bye-bye".

I think she's got the hang of it, I know Tim's hoping she does, he's counting on lots of candy!

T-Ball

Trent is signed up to play t-ball this summer, so they invited us over to their house last Sunday for a practice game of t-ball.
Before the game, Leah and Trent decided to take a ride in the gator.  Leah wasn't too sure about it.

Time to get down to business...

Even Leah decided to get in on the action.

Who has the better batting stance...
 Trent?
 Or Leah?

A Weekend Or Two

The last two weekends Tim has been working hard on re-landscaping Leah's playground area.  The area was getting pretty overgrown with weeds, so he decided he wanted to pull up all the bark, lay down weed barrier, and put down new bark.  I figured this would be a tough project, but we were able to accomplish it in two weekends. (I really can't say how tough it was, seeing as I did about 5% of the work and when I say "we" I really mean Tim and his dad.)

This was an in-progress picture from two weekends ago.  You can see the weeds under the slide and the faded red bark, yuck!

After naptime, Leah decided to join in on the fun!

 Quite a little helper!

This was the view last Saturday evening, after Tim had laid down all the weed barrier. It looks better already.
 Action shots
I didn't get too many action shots of the bark actually being put down, I was too busy trying to convince a busy toddler she needed to take a nap. (Turns out I need to work on my convincing skills!)
One of these days, I think Jim will learn to run the other way when Tim asks to borrow his truck and wheel barrow.
Trent and Leah enjoyed playing on the new, soft playground.
 Swinging Cousins
 Here is the finished product.
It looks so much better and makes our entire backyard look nicer!
Leah and Daisy approve!

A Sign of Things to Come or Just a Phase {part 2}

Last July I wrote a very similar post and I'm hoping I can say it's just a phase again....
For the last two days, Leah has decided she doesn't want to take a nap. Yesterday we went to the park and had a picnic with some friends, so I thought for sure she'd take a good nap, wrong! She fell asleep on the way home and slept about 15 minutes and then decided that was the only nap she needed. Then today we ran some errands this morning and even played outside in hopes that she would take a good nap, didn't happen. I know she usually doesn't nap very long at the babysitters, but I just figured that was because it was a different place. Here's to hoping this is just another phase and she goes back to napping, this mom needs her nap time to get things done!

These pictures are from the park. It's a really neat park with a playground, pond, and little animal farm with horses, goats, chickens, and pigs, they loved it!

Spring Pictures

Since the weather has been nice and Leah has been breaking out her spring clothes, I decided it was time for a little photo shoot.  I've also been wanting to take some 18th month pictures and use them to update the frames in my house.  Here are a few of the ones I took.  I'm also working my way through an Photoshop Elements on-line class on photo editing, so see if you can notice the ones I've edited.  (I just finished the first of five lessons, so I've got a way to go, but I'm already loving what I'm learning!)

On another note: Welcome Spring!  I'm so glad you're here!
