Memorial Day in Kansas

One of the best things about spending Memorial Day in Kansas, is attending the Memorial Day celebration in Dorrance.  For a little town, they sure do Memorial Day right.  The day begins with a parade walk to the cemetery, where everyone gathers for a speaker, fly over, and reading of veterans names.  The Legion also puts on games for kids and fellowship for the adults.

 Leah and my dad in front of the post office where my grandma and grandpa worked for many years.  Some of my favorite summers included mornings spent at the post office while grandma and grandpa worked, I loved playing "office" there.

 It's tricky to get three kids to all look at the camera and smile, add in flags and it becomes much more difficult.  I'll let you pick the best picture.

After the events in town, we headed to my aunt Susan's new house for lunch and playing. 

 Leah took the opportunity to have Aunt Susan read to her. 

 Leah and Aunt Mary Kay, I think their big smiles have something to do with a Royals, Cardinals remark.
